National Cathedral investigations Rev Kusi Boateng arrested and placed into custody

According to JoyNews, Reverend Victor Kusi Boateng, a prominent member of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees, has reportedly been taken into custody by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).

His arrest is said to be connected to an investigation into allegations that he uses multiple identities, including the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

The probe followed a petition filed by North Tongu legislator Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa with the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), requesting an inquiry into possible conflicts of interest involving Boateng.

The concerns centered on his alleged dual identity and questionable financial dealings.

A report from CHRAJ concluded that Boateng owns only one Ghanaian passport under the name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, rejecting claims of a second passport under Kusi Boateng.

1However, it also uncovered a GH¢2.6 million payment from the National Cathedral Secretariat to JNS Talent Centre Limited, a company linked to Boateng.

11Although the company was found not to have delivered any services for the amount, CHRAJ explained that the funds were a reimbursement for payments Boateng had made to contractors working on the Cathedral project.

CHRAJ called for deeper investigation and possible prosecution of the National Cathedral’s board of trustees, as well as a comprehensive audit by the Auditor-General.

Despite this, Ablakwa criticized the report, saying that CHRAJ ignored crucial pieces of evidence, including Boateng’s driver’s license and Ghana Card.

In an interview on JoyNews’ The Pulse, he insisted that while the petition succeeded in exposing corruption and procurement breaches, the findings failed to address the alleged double identity that triggered the investigation in the first place.
