NDC Should Prioritize Visibility of Presidential Candidate and Campaign Messages for Election 2024 Victory Not Jakpa’s Leaked Tape – William Boadi, EAI
“Politics is a serious business”
As a political analyst observing the evolving dynamics of the upcoming 2024 general election in Ghana, it is crucial to provide strategic advice to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to enhance their prospects for victory. Recently, the NDC released an audio recording purportedly involving the Attorney General, Godfred Dame, and Richard Jakpa, the third accused in the contentious ambulance purchase trial. While such revelations may seem impactful, I strongly advise the NDC to shift its focus towards a more proactive and strategic campaign approach.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is earnestly preparing to break the “8”—a significant political milestone. To counter this, the NDC must concentrate on amplifying the visibility of their presidential candidate, H. E. John Dramani Mahama, and his running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. Their leadership must be at the forefront, engaging with the electorate and communicating their vision and policies effectively.
*Promoting the 24-Hour Economy Policy*
One of the standout proposals from the NDC’s platform is the introduction of a 24-hour economy. This policy has the potential to resonate strongly with Ghanaians, promising to invigorate economic activity, create jobs, and enhance overall productivity. By emphasizing the benefits of a round-the-clock economy, the NDC can appeal to a broad spectrum of voters, including business owners, workers, and the youth.
*Strategic Messaging and Grassroots Engagement*
The NDC needs to deploy a robust campaign strategy that involves direct engagement with voters across all regions. This includes town hall meetings, rallies, and door-to-door canvassing. Utilizing both traditional media and social media platforms to disseminate their message will ensure that their policies reach every corner of the nation.
Highlighting the achievements of John Mahama’s previous administration, addressing current socio-economic challenges, and presenting clear, actionable plans for the future will build trust and confidence among the electorate. Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s academic and professional background should also be showcased to underline the intellectual and competent leadership team the NDC offers.
*Avoiding Distractions and Maintaining Focus*
While the audio recording and the associated court case may draw public interest, the NDC must avoid being sidetracked by these issues. Legal battles and controversies, although significant, can divert attention and resources away from the core campaign objectives. The NPP is actively preparing to maintain its hold on power, and any distraction could diminish the NDC’s momentum.
The NDC’s path to success in the 2024 general election lies in a focused and strategic campaign. By making John Dramani Mahama and Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang more visible and effectively propagating their 24-hour economy policy and other campaign messages, the NDC can build a compelling narrative that resonates with Ghanaians. It is through diligent, targeted, and unwavering efforts that the NDC can position itself for a triumphant return to leadership. As a political analyst, my advice is clear: prioritize strategic visibility and robust campaigning to secure victory in the forthcoming election.
We’re one people.
Ghana first.
Signed
