Hon. Adams Abdul Salem, Member of Parliament for the New Edubiase Constituency in the Ashanti region, has reaffirmed his commitment to develop the area, with the completion of a long-abandoned ultra-modern stadium facility at the forefront of his agenda.
In an exclusive interview with this correspondent, the MP outlined his plans to boost sports activities, improve infrastructure, and address key challenges facing his constituents.
The stadium project, initiated nearly a decade ago under the John Dramani Mahama-led NDC regime, was stalled following the transition to the NPP government in 2020.
He emphasized that completing the stadium and making it available for sporting events and other community activities is a priority.
“Sports is an activity which attracts good health to the youth as well as financial generation for a nation,” Hon. Salem explained.
Beyond the stadium, Hon. Salem identified three other critical projects he intends to prioritize: the completion of a 25-kilometer road network connecting Menaim to Dotom, Subriso Nkwanta, and Nkoransa-Nkwanta.
Recognizing the importance of infrastructure for economic development and accessibility, he pledged to ensure these projects are completed under his administration.
Addressing Security Concerns and Illegal Mining:
The MP also highlighted the importance of security for economic growth and stability. He has been actively collaborating with local security agencies to maintain peace and order in the constituency. This includes supporting community policing initiatives and encouraging night patrols to deter criminal activity.
Furthermore, Hon. Salem is committed to tackling illegal mining (galamsey) in the constituency. He is working with the District Assembly and other stakeholders to curb these activities and has expressed his willingness to cooperate with the National Anti-Galamsey Task Force if they are deployed to the area.
He emphasized his commitment to ensuring the constituency remains a conflict-free zone, promising to intervene swiftly in any situation that threatens peace.
Focus on Key Areas: Job Creation, Education, Health, and Environment:
Hon. Adams Abdul Salem emphasized his dedication to improving the lives of his constituents across various sectors, including job creation, education, health, power, and the environment.
Specifically, he outlined plans to leverage his influence and resources to support schools by providing updated furniture, textbooks, and other essential resources to create a more attractive learning environment.
He also revealed ambitious plans to establish either a Teacher Training or Nursing Training College in the constituency, providing local school leavers with access to valuable training and career opportunities.
The MP reiterated his commitment to supporting communities with their basic needs to improve their overall quality of life.
