A commercial sex worker operating in Sekondi has reported a brutal assault by a man who allegedly hired her services but later turned violent following a disagreement over payment.
The victim, a Nigerian national who identified herself as Nancy, narrated her ordeal in an interview with CONNECT FM’s Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson.
According to her, the incident occurred late Friday night after the man approached her and requested her services.
Nancy said the two agreed on an amount of GH₵50 for what she described as a short time, after which they went to the man’s house.
Trouble, however, began when the client allegedly tried to extend the encounter beyond the agreed time.
She explained that upon feeling tired and unwilling to continue, she informed the man that she could not go on.
That decision, she said, immediately changed the mood.
According to Nancy, the man demanded a refund of the GH₵50, insisting that she had not fully satisfied him.
She refused, explaining that she had already rendered the service agreed upon and therefore saw no reason to return the money.
The situation quickly escalated. She claimed the man then demanded her mobile phone as compensation, a request she also declined.
That refusal, she said, triggered a violent attack.
“He wanted to take the 50 cedis back, but I told him I had satisfied him, so I wouldn’t refund it.
Then he demanded my phone, and when I refused, he started assaulting me mercilessly,” she recounted.
Nancy said she was beaten severely and left traumatised by the encounter.
After managing to leave the man’s house, she reported the incident to the Sekondi Police.
According to her, the police have since issued her with a medical form to seek treatment and document her injuries at a hospital as part of ongoing investigations.
The incident has sparked concern among residents, with many calling for swift police action. Some have also raised broader concerns about violence against vulnerable individuals, stressing that disputes, regardless of circumstance, should never be resolved through physical assault.
