Nokia Is Back With New Android Phone That’s Going To Be Tough To Beat.
Nokia’s 3310 phone remains one of the most iconic phones ever thanks to epic battery life and ludicrous durability, which made it feel “indestructible”.
Now, the Finnish tech company has decided to play to its strengths again and is looking to recreate that success for the smartphone era, with a new device that is said to be incredibly tough.
HMD Global, which now owns Nokia phones, has launched a new device called the Nokia XR21, which they reckon is drop, dust, and fully water resistant.
The company noted that the device’s strong durability and powerful two-day battery life make it a great choice for users who have anxiety about damaging their phones.
Like the Nokia 3310, this device should be able to withstand everything from tumbling out of your trouser pocket and hitting the ground screen first to hiking in torrential rain for 72 hours.
It’s made from 100 percent recycled aluminium and is capable of withstanding impacts thanks to a body that’s covered in durable materials including toughened Gorilla Glass.
The company noted that the Nokia XR21 has been certified for MIL-STD-810H durability, which means that it is resistant to drops, dust and water.
They also added that during internal testing, the smartphone was able to survive being dropped from 1.8 meters, as well as being submerged in 1.5 meters of water for up to an hour. Other tests included blasting it with water and seeing if it survived extreme temperatures.
Along with durability, owners will also be treated to a pixel-packed 6.49” FHD+ screen with a speedy 120Hz refresh rate for super speedy scrolling and a powerful Qualcomm processor. There’s also a dual-lens camera on the rear case with this snapper able to shoot bright images when the sun goes down thanks to a dedicated night Mode.
Speaking about the release, Adam Ferguson Head of Product Marketing, for Nokia phones said: “This is the smartphone version of the famous near-indestructible Nokia 3310.
“Breaking your smartphone or experiencing low battery ahead of a long journey can leave you with ‘phone-xiety’.
“This smartphone has been built to eliminate those everyday fears; our device is so durable that it can withstand a soaking from a 100-bar pressure water hose jet with an 80°C water temperature.
“In fact, we’re so confident in our new durable hero that we are offering a one-year screen replacement guarantee should the worst happen.”
If the XR21 sounds enticing then it launches today with prices starting from £499. It’s available in Pine Green or Midnight Black.
