The people of Wassa Esaman in the Wassa East district of the Western region are up in arms and are against their District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Emmanuel Boakye, for what they described it as evil and and unacceptable pronouncement contrary to the rules of the country.
According to the residents, the DCE has stormed a local information Center and openly declared that all “strangers” living in the community should immediately migrate from the area.
The residents are demanding a clear explanation for this directive, stating that it is the “strangers” who have been contributing significantly to the community’s development.
They also fear that if these individuals are forced to leave as the Dce Emmanuel Boakye has been announced, it will negatively impact their wellbeing within the community.
Terming the Dce’s announcement as unlawful and ill- fated attempt to promote tribal sentiment in the area, the residents are calling on the chiefs, stakeholders, state authorities among others to intervene.
They also demand that the Dce must also be brought to book to justify his assertion for before he would be taken on.
Your position as Dce cannot give you the liencese to misbehaving a resident told the correspondent adding that what has infuriated the people more was the fact that he was unable to tell the people his reason for his actions.
The residents are seeking clarification and a resolution to this issue, which they believe that the
issue can dent the image of the region if nothing is done to reverse the announcement from the Dce.
When the Dce was reached on his phone number 0240013903 for his defense, he said he was in a meeting in Accra and would call back later.
