Accra, Ghana – The founder and leader of the Christ Power Miracle Mission Church, Very Rev. Anthony Kwarteng, has issued a scathing indictment of headmasters and bursars in the Oti Region, accusing them of widespread corruption within the school feeding program.
The clergyman’s accusations center around the alleged manipulation of food costs, leading to underfeeding of students and jeopardizing their health. He is calling on the government to immediately initiate a mass transfer of headmasters and bursars in the region and launch a thorough investigation into the matter.
Rev. Kwarteng alleges a corrupt scheme where headmasters and bursars collaborate to artificially inflate the cost of food items purchased for the school feeding program.
After matrons submit lists for approval, the headmasters reportedly approve the initial figures but then secretly reduce the cost with the bursars, pocketing the difference.
Matrons who raise concerns are allegedly threatened with transfers or false accusations, forcing them into silence.
“This underfeeding poses a significant threat to the health of students in the region,” Rev. Kwarteng stated. “It’s time the government wakes up and deals with this situation before it’s too late.
Certain sicknesses impacting students can be directly linked to a lack of proper nutrition.” he stated.
The Reverend Minister cited instances from last year (2024) where medical reports allegedly indicated over 200 students in the region contracted serious illnesses, which he believes could be attributed to inadequate and poor-quality meals.
He argues that this corruption is a deliberate attempt to undermine the current government’s popularity.
Rev. Kwarteng emphasized his willingness to assist in any investigation, claiming to possess concrete evidence to support his allegations. He specifically called on the Minister for Education to take immediate action, stating that many matrons in the Oti Region are afraid to speak out for fear of retribution.
Finally, Rev. Kwarteng issued a warning to the newly appointed Oti Regional Director of Education, Madam Attabra Jacqueline Irene, and the regional Accountant, Mr. William Havor, urging them to proactively address these alleged corrupt practices before they escalate.
The allegations are serious and, if proven true, represent a significant abuse of power and a betrayal of the students reliant on the school feeding program.
- The call for a comprehensive investigation and potential mass transfers highlights the urgency and severity of the situation in the Oti Region. The coming weeks will likely see increased scrutiny of the school feeding program in the region as authorities respond to these accusations.
