Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Hon Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has indicated that the 2024 general elections will be hard for the Npp to win
He said the party will struggle in their quest to be in power if the current economic challenges that have been confronting the citizens are not addressed.
Speaking at the Otec 102.9fm program Nyansapo, hosted by Captain Koda and monitored by the Connectghananews.com Correspondent Kyei Mensa Bonsu observed that Ghanaians are suffering under Akuffo Addo regime and that until something is done to relieve the country from its current predicament, thinking about wining power in the next elections would not happen.
“Retaining power in the 2024 general polls is not farfetched but the party will have to do more to make the living condition of the ordinary Ghanaian a bit easier the Mp told his listeners.
“I strongly believe that breaking the eight is doable, however we all must accept the that, there is hardship in the country and as the adage goes ‘a hungry man is an angry man’, and so we must work hard to turn things around if indeed we want to remain in power”, he said.
In another development,Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, a flagbearer aspirant of the NPP said he is the next person to succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking to Accra based GHOne TV, he said the party believes in a system of hierarchy where people are in line to take up positions available in the party
“For me and Nana Akufo-Addo we come from Prof Adu Boahene’s camp. And I have always been behind Nana Akufo-Addo, his excellency the president. We have had excellent relations both in Parliament and as ministers.
“It has always been the case that he will go before I go… and I think when he finishes, I will inherit him,” he said.
Dr Apraku, a former Minister for Regional Cooperation under ex-President John Agyekum Kufour will face competition from the likes of former Trade and Industry Minister Alan Kyerematen Assin, Central MP Ken Agyapong, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Food and Agriculture Minister, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and ex-Mampong MP Francis Addai-Nimoh for the flagbearership position of the NPP.
