The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with a defilement case involving a nine-year-old girl at Oyarifa.
The suspect, Paul Kofi Annan, is a pastor with Chosen Breed Gospel International Ministry and a carpenter living at Adenta Commandos. He was arrested on March 17, 2026, after a complaint was filed with the Oyarifa District Police Command.
Police say the suspect is the stepfather of the victim. He had been living with the child’s mother since 2023 and married her on February 20, 2026.
Investigations show the case came to light when the girl told her grandfather during a visit to Cape Coast. Authorities believe the suspect abused the child over a period of about three years, often when the mother was not at home.
Police also say the suspect allegedly threatened the victim to stop her from reporting the abuse.
He is currently in custody and assisting with investigations.
The Accra Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to protecting children and urged parents and guardians to report any suspected abuse quickly for action.
