A prominent Kumasi based political analyst and leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Robert Agyeman has delivered a strong caution to the party.
He asserts that it is only Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who possesses the marketing strategies and political acumen to secure victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections.
Agyeman’s remarks come as the party gears up for its crucial flagbearer selection process.
According to Mr. Agyeman, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President stands alone as the only marketable entity among the array of flagbearer hopefuls.
He firmly believes that entrusting Bawumia with the presidential candidature would be the surest route to bring the NPP back into power come 2028.
In an exclusive interview with the correspondent, Agyeman elaborated on Bawumia’s position stating that while other contestants are undoubtedly equally qualified and matured politicians, Dr. Bawumia holds a distinct advantage.
Bawumia is ahead of them in terms of physical governance, policy making, and undeniable popularity Agyeman asserted.
He further emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s invaluable experience noting that Bawumia has been in the government before and therefore knows all secrets on how to win elections.
To sideline him in favour of a new face, Agyeman unequivocally stated that would be tantamount to an election disaster for the NPP..
The seasoned politician expressed deep concern over what he perceives as the party’s tendency to always rush about things that could see the downfall of the party and not patience to analyze issues that could move the NPP forward.
Agyeman outrightly dismissclaims that the party’s 2024 electoral defeat was attributable to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Instead, he emphatically argued that the NPP’s setbacks were primarily a consequence of internal wrangles, a situation he notes the party continues to grapple with in its backyard.
In the light of these critical observations the analyst issued a fervent appeal for peace, calm, and unity within the NPP.
He urged party members to rally behind Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to become the flagbearer as the indispensable path to ensuring an NPP victory in the crucial 2028 elections.
