The New Jerusalem Chapel located at Sokoban Ampayoo-Kumasi in the Ashanti region on Sunday May 12,2024 celebrated the ‘Mother Day’ with a call women, especially the married ones to be humble and show respect to their husbands to sustain their marriages.
As a special occasion for women, top and seasoned gospel musicians like Maame Tiwa and Professor Kofi Abraham were invited to entertain the congregation.
Addressing the function, Prophetess Christiana Adu Amponsah who is the husband of the leader and founder of the New Jerusalem Chapel, Bishop Dr John Yaw Adu expressed her gratitude to God for the occasion.
She insisting that women are precious, valuable and created special by God to support men as a wives.
Prophetess Christiana Adu Amponsah observed that as women, our core mandates are to among others, show respect, submissiveness, serve, take good care of children, home and humble ourselves to our husbands.
If such virtues are exhibited in marriage homes, husbands would deepened their love in wives to ensure unity and peaceful coexistence in our families, she asserted.
That was not all, she spoke against laziness attitudes in some women who hate to work and support their husbands, unnecessary friendship with colleague females, attitudes of gossip, lack of attention to childrens welfare, harsh words on husbands, refusing sex to husbands, unnecessary complains of family matters to parents among others as some of the bad habits in some women that contribute to breaking marriages.
According to the soft spoken woman of God, who claims to have 41 solid years experience in marriage, she has lived peacefully with the husband, Bishop Dr J Y Adu and children as a result of her respect, humility, submissiveness and good manners she always shows to the man of God, ultimately to enable Bishop Adu to have peace of mind to do the work of God.
Quoting the book of Proverbs 30-10, the Prophetess noted that every man needs a good, peaceful and virtuous wife worth to serve, and therefore a wife whose attitudes does not fall under the dictates of Proverbs 30-10 cannot count herself among the ideal women in the society.
Today the Prophetess expressed disappointment that out of bad conduct, many marriages have have broken simply because some women follow their beauty and impose themselves on husbands, refuse to obey simple instructions or learn how to render apologies when they err.
The Prophetess took advantage of the ‘Mother’s Day’ celebration to admonish those recalcitrant women to change over a new leaf and bear in mind that marriage is not a fashion or a breakfast meeting, instead, it is a sacred institution handed down by God to couples to live together in peace, love and unity to glorify God.
In his brief contribution the founder and leader of the church, Bishop Dr J Y Adu linked marriage seperations to bad habits with some women citing boastfulness, lack of humility, patience, respect, imposition on husbands among others.
The clergy expressed worry that many weddings have been shotlived due to bad behavior of some women who don’t know that the secret of successful marriage depends on humility, respect and readiness to serve.
The Bishop alleged that current annual statistics revealed that divorce cases at the Marriage Registry tops that of the sustainable marriages in the country.
He advised women to be cautious about their attitudes to help them to maintain their marriages to glorify God.
For the fact that some husbands are difficult to control, Bishop Adu emphasized the need for wives to refer family challenges to their pastors for settlement instead of their parents of which some of them are the sources of breaking marriages.
