Religious focus: Beware of the People: Numbers 20:12 .
God said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you didn’t trust me, didn’t treat me with holy reverence in front of the People of Israel, you two aren’t going to lead this company into the land that I am giving them.”
No human can successfully live in isolation. We interact with people from varied backgrounds everyday.
Interacting with people can either edify or corrupt you; you either become better or worse.
Some people will always force you to make grace mistakes and offend others, even worse, offending God.
King Saul said that the people had been waiting for so long and Prophet Samuel had delayed them, that was how he lost his kingship.
Moses was so frustrated at the attitude of the people to the extent that he hit the rock when God asked him to point to it, and that made him lose the opportunity to enter the promised land with the same people.
Look at how he suffered; the ridicule, threats etc he endured from Pharoah and his men but failed to enter the promised land because of ‘the people’.
My dear friend, whenever you come across people whose attitudes make you feel inferior, angry, or feel like committing sin, please remember the ending of God’s friend Moses.
As for the people, we shall always encounter them, but whether they will succeed in edifying us or corrupting us will depend on us.
Make a strong resolve today, that you shall not let anyone’s attitude force you to sin against your God because the consequences are quite dire for us.
As we begin this new week my friend, check the people you interact with; get closer to those who edify you more, and for those you cannot avoid, make firm resolution to please God in your interactions, and not them.
The Lord will help us this week too. Amen.
*Prayer: Pray for the grace to be wise and bold to always do what God tells you and not what the people tell you.*
