The Head pastor of the Association of 7th Day Assemblies in Kumasi in the Ashanti region, Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr has disclosed that it would be prudent for Ghanaians to tolerate each others opinions or views as the country prepares to go to polls in December 2024.

Political tolerance he noted, would go a long way to promote peace and unity to enhance free and fair elections devoid of fratricidal violence.

In an interview with the correspondent to round off the church’s annual camp meeting on Saturday December 30th 2023 at Kumasi Feyiase, Elder Ofori Jnr defined democracy as a peaceful governance which gives peoples the mandate to speak their minds without fear.

The clergy said democracy as a system of opinion sharing to ensure peaceful coexistence, the citizens have their freedom to choose and vote for their choice, stressing that election platforms should avoid insults and vulgar languages that could generate unnecessary tension to disrupt the peace of the country.

In this regard, the Elder charged Ghanaians to remain vigilant and choose the right leader whose administration would move the country forward for the benefit of the citizenry.

Citing the book of Exodus chapter 18 verse 5 to justify his point, Elder Ofori described how the chapter of the Exodus defined the qualities of a good leader.

He mentioned acts of God fearing, transparency, openness, unifier, peacemaker, blamelessness among other qualities a good leader should possess, therefore it is the duty of the people to consider the aforementioned qualities and vote for their choice in 2024 general elections.

Concluding the man of God also appealed to the Electoral Commission to comport itself in a manner which will avoid public suspicion or electoral rigging to enhance peaceful elections in December 7 2024.
