The Head Pastor of the 7th Day Pentecostal Assemblies sited at Kumasi Esereso in the Ashanti Region, Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr has registered his disappointment about the rising trend in which some alleged counterfeit pastors have in the recent past, infiltrating the noble profession of the priesthood and thus bringing the the word of God into public ridicule.
The pastor was speaking to journalists in reaction to the various newspapers and social media reports that allegedly implicates some pastors in fraudulent activities in the society.
Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr indicated that what the society should first and foremost know is that a genuine pastor must be knowledgeable, decent and seen as a messenger of God who is ready to save souls.
It is also important for the people to get to know that the Scripture has since creation warned about the increasing number of false prophets who would be surfaced at the end time to use miracles to deceive the sons and daughters of God.
Elder Enoch Ofori said the development which is currently going on in the country with regards to false prophets is though alarming and unfortunate, yet it has to be happened because it is a prophecy and that no one can change what God has said.
The clergy described the false prophets as full of curses before God because they are liars who ditch the society.
He quoted the book of Malachi 2 verse to 7 and 9 to justify his points which reads thus : 7- For the lips of a priest ought to preserve knowledge, because he is the messenger of the Lord Almighty and people seek instructions from his mouth.
Verse 8- “BUT YOU HAVE TURNED FROM THE WAY AND BY YOUR TEACHINGS HAVE VIOLATED THE COVENANT WITH LEVI ” SAYS THE LORD ALMIGHTY.”
Verse 9 – So I Have Cursed You To Be Depised And Humiliated Before All The People Because You Have Shown Partiality In Matters Of Law.
The man of God further attributed the activities of the false prophets to worldly gains, greed and their quest to satisfy their master (the Satan) by using false miracles and alleged rituals to lead innocent people astray.
Truth , transparency and preaching the true word of God are not their jobs, and they never think of salvation nor heavenly call, the clergy asserted.
Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr noted that mankind is presently living in a wicked era as the Bible continue to advise that it is important one should study the sort of pastor or church he fellowships with, before he would fully embraced them.
This is because a person can be judged through his fruits, which is his lifestyle or attitudes.
Touching on the role about the government with regards to the antisocial vices of some pastors, Elder Enoch Ofori Jnr suggested for a stiffer punishment against pastors who would be caught to have been trapped in the laws.
He said if government lawfully descends on offending pastors it will go a long way to curb criminal cases and in effect sanitize the priesthood.
