Save Ghana Movement Demand Ghanaians Should Protest Against the Neglect of Primary Education.
Who are the Future leaders of our nation, and is our approach to nurturing them during their developmental years promising?
Our current educational system neglects to provide the necessary support for young minds to explore their potentials during what should be a critical stage of development—primary education.
There is a noticeable imbalances in attention between primary and secondary education.
Over the years, successive governments have prioritized secondary schools, leaving the crucial foundation of education, spanning from early childhood to junior high school, largely neglected.
If we acknowledge that children are the future leaders of our country, why do we disregard their foundational education?
The condition of our schools, from early childhood centres to junior high schools, is alarming and indicative of our nation’s lack of seriousness regarding education.
Government teachers, focusing on these crucial stages, are demanding increased salaries while the state of primary education remains dire and in urgent need of attention.
In today’s technological age, our young learners from early childhood to junior high schools are deprived of the necessary resources and equipment to familiarize themselves with technology, let alone develop proficiency in it.
This neglect poses a significant threat to our nation’s progress. As our educational system fails to prioritize the primary sector, our youth, particularly those in senior high schools and tertiary institutions, are left without direction and ill-prepared for the demands of the modern world.
It is disheartening to note that many students at the senior high school and tertiary levels lack even basic literacy in technology—a vital skill for our nation’s advancement.
As advocates for progress, we, the Save Ghana Movement, call upon all Ghanaians to join us in protesting against this unacceptable state of our educational system.
The critical stage where young minds are receptive and eager to learn is being overlooked, depriving them of the facilities and support they need to thrive.
While attention and resources are diverted to secondary and tertiary education, the foundational stages where young minds are moulded and potentials are discovered are neglected. We must ask ourselves:
Is this where our focus truly belongs? Let us come together to demand a re-evaluation of our educational priorities and ensure that every child receives the support they need to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to the development of our nation.
If we assert that we are digitalizing our nation, why has ICT, which should be a mandatory part of school curricula, now become an optional subject?
