Save Ghana Movement Sounds Alarm on Rampant Corruption In The Security Service Recruitment.
The Save Ghana Movement has voiced grave concerns about the state of Ghana’s Security Services recruitment, pointing to a troubling rise in bribery and corruption that have severely impacted the recruitment process.
In an interview the correspondent, the Convener of the Movement, Mr Robert Andzie Ansah said the pervasive influence of these unethical practices has distorted the selection of security personnels in Ghana.
Shockingly, individuals aspiring to become immigration officers are reportedly compelled to pay an alleged exorbitant fee of GHC40,000 before they could secure their positions.
He said the situation is not just prevailing within the corridors of the Immigration services recruitment alone but also with other security institutions such as the Police service and the Military service .
Mr Ansah said this canker raises serious doubts about the integrity of our security service and the motives behind those within it.
According to him many individuals are drawn to these roles not out of genuine passion, but rather for the sake of job security.
The Convener consequently submitted that those with the financial means to meet such demands dominate, leaving deserving candidates with sincere interest and dedication in security pursuits sidelined.
Andzie posited that this trend undermines the effectiveness and credibility of the country’s security institutions, compelling passionate individuals to pursue alternative paths.
