School Feeding Program Brouhaha…. Concerned Citizen Appeals To Gov’t To Probe Oti Regional Audit Service, Directors And Bursars.
The idea in which the School Feeding Program was hatched was considered laudable by many Ghanaians, but current situation suggests that the program tends to be a failure.
Despite the fact that the administration of Nana Akuffo is overloaded with various challenges, government is always focused to fix the lapses that surrounds the school Feeding Program.
Yet there is not a single day where Ghanaians never hear complaints of food shortages in schools, poor food consumption of students and among others, cases of suspension of students to their homes because of the government indebtedness to the caterers assigned to work for the schools.
Cases of illness among students in our schools are uncountable, linking them to the bad food consumptions in the schools.
Only last week, the website was stunned to learnt that worst things are still happening in some schools across the regions.
The reports hinted about the low feeding cost for students which sadly ranges from Ghc.03p – Ghc 2 per student per day.
This startling development triggered intensive investigations by the website, but to our shock, what is particularly taking place in the Oti Regional schools need immediate probe by the government to ascertain the truth otherwise in the allegations that pointed out that students in the Oti region are fed Ghc 3p day.
According to a concerned citizen, who preferred incognito, in an interview, has appealed to Nana Akuffo Addo to initiate immediate investigations into the school feeding issues in the Oti Region.
The citizen wanted the Oti Regional Audit Service, Regional Director of the Ghana Education Service, Headmasters and Bursars of the schools in the Oti region probed.
His reasons stemmed from the fact that he suspects foul play about the financial management surrounding the feeding program in the Oti Region.
How on earth can a normal person be fed Ghc 0.3p a day, or our students in the Oti region regarded as prisoners, and if it so, are prisoners not human beings, the source queried.
It was also not secret to say that no day student in the Oti region enjoys one full square meal in the schools as such meals are made it complusory for day students.
The irony of the case is that matrons of the schools cannot critize out of fear that they would stand the risks of being dismissed or transferred.
The source is asking the Oti Regional Audit Service on the criteria in which they use to audit school feeding funds, and also wanted to know from the Regional Director of Education Service in the Oti Region, whether the sector accesses correctly the accounts that are presented to them by the school headmasters and their Bursars.
According to the concerned citizen, he can no longer sit down for certain people to derail the administration of Nana Akuffo Addo hence the call for the probe.
