Ghanaian dancehall star, Shatta Wale, has issued a stern warning to renowned businessman Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, threatening to expose what he claims are damning secrets if media personalities on his platforms continue to insult him
The outspoken musician, known for his unfiltered views, expressed his frustrations during a TikTok live session. His outburst was sparked after media personality MC Yaa Yeboah, affiliated with Despite Media, reportedly criticized his friend and rapper Medikal over an incident involving a female University of Ghana student at a recent music event.
Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, was visibly upset and accused the media of unfairly targeting celebrities. He lamented how similar media narratives, in his view, had once dimmed the promising career of highlife musician Bisa Kdei.
But this time, Shatta Wale did not hold back. He directly addressed the CEO of the Despite Group of Companies, saying:
“If anyone mistakenly goes on Peace FM or UTV and mentions my name, I will come and say things about Despite that would get me and him in trouble with the FBI. This country won’t be able to handle it if I come out and say the things I know about Despite.”
The bold threat has since sparked debates across social media, with many questioning what exactly the musician claims to know, and whether the threat was a genuine warning or simply a desperate call for respect.
Despite the intensity of his remarks, Shatta Wale made it clear that he harbors no personal hatred for Dr. Despite. In fact, he said he respects the entrepreneur and has long seen him as a role model. However, he expressed disappointment in the way some staff of Despite Media continually attack his image.
Shatta Wale warned that he would no longer be silent and ignore attacks, even if it meant going against advice from respected figures in society.
While neither Dr. Osei Kwame Despite nor his media outlets have officially responded, the musician’s comments have reignited the long-standing debate about media responsibility and the treatment of public figures in Ghana.
For now, all eyes are on Peace FM and UTV to see if the tension will deescalate — or explode furthrmore.
