Journalist and political analyst Ziega has disclosed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s presidential aspirant, has no intention of changing his current running mate ahead of the upcoming elections. According to Ziega, party members and sympathizers who are spending time and resources speculating about a possible reshuffle should desist, as such efforts are unnecessary and counterproduction
Speaking on Kesseben TV, Ziega explained that the information was obtained from reliable sources within the leadership structure of the New Patriotic Party. He said these sources are well-positioned to know the strategic decisions of the party, and their assurance should put to rest the growing rumors surrounding the presidential ticket.
Ziega stressed that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is firmly committed to maintaining his current running mate, describing ongoing lobbying and propaganda as a waste of money and energy. He warned that internal speculation, especially when amplified publicly, risks distracting the party from more pressing campaign priorities.
According to the analyst, leadership decisions of this nature are usually calculated and strategic, taking into account experience, political balance, and long-term electoral considerations rather than pressure from internal factions. He noted that as the party approaches critical electoral milestones, unity and discipline must be paramount.
Ziega further cautioned party members against turning internal discussions into public disputes, arguing that such actions only provide political opponents with ammunition to question the party’s cohesion and readiness to govern. He emphasized that the NPP should instead concentrate on grassroots mobilization, voter engagement, policy communication, and effective campaign organization.
He appealed to party financiers and loyalists to channel their resources toward voter education, campaign logistics, and constituency-level outreach, rather than rumor-driven activities. Ziega concluded that the NPP’s electoral success will depend largely on unity, discipline, and a clear message to the electorate as the campaign season intensifies.
