Sunyani Tillers Association Inaugurated With A Call On Gov’t To Invest In Vocational Skills.

The Sunyani in the Bono region Tillers Association has been inaugurated with a call on the government to invest and make the vocational training attractive to the youth.

In his brief inaugural address oyer the weekend, Mr Ali Mohammed, Chairman of the Association noted that vocational skill play a crucial role towards national development,but careful studies in the country suggests that less attention is given to promote the trade.

Mohammed indicated that the youth of the country are not interested to learn a trader as a result of many challenges confronting even masters in the vocational system.

Adding that the situation is creating the the impression that it is only educated people who deserves job opportunities in the country.

Chairman Ali Mohammed reiterated that the vocational skills though have the potential to create jobs, less attention is paid to encourage the youth to develop interest in them, a situation he observed is contributing to a widespread unemployment in the society.

The benefits associated with the vocational are uncountable, Ali Mohammed pointed out and stressed that if real investment is prioritized in the vocational skills training, it would go a long way to not only open up job avenues for the youth alone, but it would also help the government to attract funds to sustain the economy.

On this note, chairman Mohammed made a passionate appeal to the government to take a second look into the the challenges that have been confronting those in the vocational skills training areas and find solutions to them.

According to the chairman education alone is not the only gate way to create opportunities for the youth, but vocational skills also play a vital role to raise the living standards of the citizenry.

He also suggested the need for the government to collaborate with Senior artisans and masters who own their workshops and assign interested youth who are ready to sign up for apprenticeship to help reduce youth unemployment in the country.

Chairman Ali Mohammed further took the opportunity to advise parents to encourage their children to opt for vocational training to secure themselves a life time jobs.

In conclusion he said the Association has put in place, systematic measures t that could help support the members as part of their obligations to raise the image of the Association at the regional level.
