Tension as new details of the military aircraft that crushed Defence Minister others emerged

Fresh revelations about the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians have raised further questions about the severity and nature of the incident. According to Member of Parliament for Ada and Deputy Majority Chief Whip, Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, the military helicopter did not simply crash—it reportedly exploded mid-air before hitting the ground.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM, the MP described the incident as far more catastrophic than initially reported. She stated that based on accounts she has received, the helicopter was already in flames before it made impact with the ground. According to her, the force of the explosion caused parts of the aircraft and the remains of those on board to be scattered across the crash site.

“The helicopter did not crash in the usual sense. It exploded in the sky before falling,” she said. “The people on board were already burning before it hit the ground. The debris and bodies were scattered and burning.”

Her comments paint a grim picture of the final moments of the passengers, many of whom were public figures traveling for an official assignment. The identities of the victims have not yet been formally disclosed by authorities, but the impact of the tragedy has been felt deeply across the country.

Cudjoe-Ghansah extended her condolences to the grieving families and urged Ghanaians to remember them during this difficult time. She emphasized the need for compassion and national unity in the face of such a heartbreaking event.

The Ghana Armed Forces and aviation authorities are currently investigating the incident, but have yet to release detailed findings. The cause of the explosion remains unknown, though officials have pledged a thorough inquiry to determine what led to the devastating mid-air disaster.
