Three communities in Wassa Amanfi East Municipality make an urgent appeal to Road Minister to fix their damaged bridge

Since agriculture is the backbone of every development country, residents of three farming communities in the Wassa Amenfi East Municipality in the Western Region have raised an alarm over the deteriorated state of a bridge that connects them to the capital town of Wassa Amenfi East Municipality (Wassa Akropong) in the Western Region.

The bridge is the only route linking the communities of Wassa Mangoase, Wassa Domeabra, Tamaklo and Nyame-Tease to the municipality.

However the structure has now become a dangerous scene to lives and livelihoods with residents describing it as a death trap.

In an interviews with the media the residents expressed frustrations and fear as the bridge continues to pose a serious risk.

According to them the weakened structure of the bridge have been hampering movements especially during emergencies and thus making it difficult for people to access medical care and transport routes to deliver their farm produce.

Our fears are that this risky bridge can collapse at any moment from now a trader who identified herself as Ama Agyeman from Mangoase observed..

Echoeing the damage degree of the bridge s Cocoa farmer Kwame Adjei of Wassa Domeabra indicated that they can no more risk their lives to cross over such a harmful facility to farm.

The residents indicated that the bridge’s worsening condition has cut off the communities entirely from crossing it to the other end expect using an uncomfortable paths in the bush to join vehicles for their daily activities.

The residents are therefore urgently appealing to the Minister of Roads Hon. Kwame Agbodza, their Member of Parliament and the Municipal Chief Executive to intervene and ensure that the construction of a permanent and safer bridge is made available for the communities to end their social and economic challenges.
