Top Businessman Links Ghana’s Hardships To Leadership Crisis.
A Kumasi based renowned businessman of international repute, Alhaji Musa Abubakari has disclosed that the country stands a better chance to build it’s economy if the citizens get a visionary, focused, responsible, disciplined and selfless leaders to manage its affairs.
According to the businessman who doubles as the Managing Director of Basfam Company Ltd in Kumasi, he flatly disagrees w.ith the notions from some quarters that Ghana is a third world country and as such can be counted among the poor countries at the global level.
Speaking to the Correspondent in an exclusive interview, Alhaji Abubakari asserted in no uncertain terms that he differs in opinion that Ghana is a poor country.
Justifying his case he said, Ghana as a blessed country has all the natural resources like gold, bauxite, cocoa, manganese, diamond, timber among others that could undoubtedly satisfied the citizens, and even help save substantial sum of money as reserve to meet emergencies.
Alhaji Abubakari who is also the Southern Sector Chief distributor of Tamanaa Rice Company Ltd’s rice products, observed that all the aforementioned resources are under utilization in the country now, poverty and hunger continue to strike Ghanaians, whilst borrowing and debts tend to destroy the future of mother Ghana.
The outspoken businessman who also holds the position of Chairman of the Moslems Executive Foundation (MEF) a pro-Islamic Movement in Kumasi wanted to know where the proceeds from the natural resources were or are channelled to in the face of economic çhallenges that leads to external borrowing.
Explaining a point he cited that a country like Libya is a known desert zone, out of proper management from the country’s leadership, Libya economy is moving forward with its citizens living better.
He further recalled that Ghana was one time better off under the administration of the late Dr Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah he described him as a visionary leader.
He reiterated that under the regime of Kwame Nkrumah he was able to establish industries, formulated good policies that turned the fortune of the country to become one of the most popular countries in Africa.
Alhaji Abubakari regretted that after overthrown of Nkrumah’s government all his industries, good policies and plans towards national development were dumped into the gutters a situation he said is where the country is suffering today.
Today he said the country lacks serious leaders who have the country at heart. Our leaders today like free ,free things and don’t want to work hard to archive positive results for the nation.
Cravance for quick monies and external loans have become their stock in trade, putting behind them, the good policies that could address the problems of the people.
To reverse the trend the businessman who. currently have over 70 workforce on his payroll urged our leaders to be proactive and change their mindsets and address the challenges confronting the country for the benefit of all.
