Subject: Respectful Request for the Immediate Replacement of NPP-Affiliated STC and Metro Mass Regional Directors
Your Excellency,
We write to express our heartfelt congratulations once again on your decisive and inspiring victory in the 2024 general elections. Your resounding return to leadership is a clear endorsement by the Ghanaian people of your proven competence, empathy, and vision for national transformation. It is also a renewed mandate to reset Ghana and restore dignity to governance.
As you begin the critical task of rebuilding our country, we, as committed and loyal foot soldiers of the party and members of your grassroots operations team, feel compelled to respectfully draw your attention to a matter of both strategic importance and urgent concern.
Across the sixteen regions of Ghana, several key positions within State Transport Company (STC) and Metro Mass Transit Limited continue to be occupied by individuals who are well-known loyalists and beneficiaries of the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration. These individuals were deliberately placed in these positions not for national service, but as part of a grand political scheme to entrench partisan dominance within the public sector—even in non-political institutions.
Despite the overwhelming victory of the NDC in both the presidential and parliamentary elections, these persons remain at post. Many of them continue to undermine the agenda of the new administration, frustrate the operations of our party-aligned appointees on the ground, and—most dangerously—use their positions to sabotage efforts being made to restructure the transportation sector in line with your 24-hour economy and inclusive growth policies.
The STC and Metro Mass, as state transport agencies, are not merely service providers. They are strategic national assets with significant influence over mobility, logistics, and public access across the country. Those who manage these assets must not only be technically competent but must also be politically aligned, vision-driven, and committed to the government’s transformation agenda.
It is therefore imperative that your Excellency initiates a swift and comprehensive review of all regional directors and key management personnel within STC and Metro Mass. Those who are openly aligned with the NPP, who actively worked against the NDC’s return, or who lack the strategic vision required to support your presidency, must be replaced with qualified, loyal, and forward-looking professionals from the ranks of the NDC.
We emphasize that this call is not borne out of vindictiveness, but of strategic necessity. We cannot allow individuals who owe allegiance to an opposing agenda to remain in command of institutions that are vital to the success of your policies and the reputation of your government.
We respectfully propose the following:
1. That the Ministry of Transport, working with your Chief of Staff, initiates an immediate audit of all regional leadership in STC and Metro Mass.
2. That regional directors found to be partisan affiliates of the previous government be relieved of their duties.
3. That qualified and competent individuals from within the NDC’s structures be appointed in their place to bring renewed energy, efficiency, and loyalty to the system.
The grassroots worked tirelessly to ensure victory in December 2024. This is the moment to ensure that the party’s faithful and committed professionals are empowered not only in political positions but in key technocratic roles that influence national development. The transportation sector must be purged of the remnants of political sabotage and repurposed as a vehicle for national service under your leadership.
We are confident that under your wise leadership, this concern will receive the urgent attention it deserves.
May the Almighty God guide you in this new chapter of your presidency, and may your legacy continue to shine as a beacon of hope and progress for all Ghanaians.
