Ghana’s security agencies have sounded a strong warning to individuals and groups attempting to obstruct their work, particularly in ongoing anti-galamsey operations across the country.
In a joint statement, the Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service cautioned that anyone who interferes with their lawful duties — especially efforts to clamp down on illegal mining — will face the full force of the law.
The two institutions stressed that their personnel are acting under legitimate authority to protect the nation’s natural resources and maintain law and order. Any act of resistance, they warned, would be treated as a direct challenge to state authority and will be met with decisive action.
“Any individual or group that attempts to obstruct the operations of any of the security services in their anti-galamsey operations or in the performance of any other lawful duty will face the full force of the law,” the statement emphasized.
The warning follows increasing reports of attacks, threats, and interference against security officers involved in illegal mining crackdowns. The Armed Forces and Police say such acts not only endanger personnel but also undermine national efforts to protect the environment and restore water bodies.
They reaffirmed their commitment to execute their mandate professionally, impartially, and within the law, while urging the public to cooperate and provide information that supports their work.
With illegal mining continuing to devastate farmlands and river bodies, the latest warning serves as a clear signal that the state will no longer tolerate resistance against its anti-galamsey campaign.
