Trades are calling for stricter penalties for armed robbers who continue to harass businesses, with some suggesting that firing squads should be used to deter such criminal behavior.
In a separate interviews with a section of trades in Kumasi, Offinso and Obuasi, they lamented that the ongoing threat of armed robbery can have a significant impact on businesses, causing fear among employees and customers and resulting in financial losses.
According to them by imposing harsher penalties, trades hope to send a clear message that such criminal behavior will not be tolerated and that those who engage in armed robbery will face severe consequences.
They charged that with the current spate of economic hardships that have compelled many of them to have halt their children’s education if such robbers are left to operate in the system and go scot free, life will become more unbearable to affect government policies and free movements in the country.
Madam Yaa Manu of Offinso narrated her recent ordeal about how robbers attacked and forcefully took away a loan abtained from a friend for business purposes recently.
For the fact that no one is praying for firing squads as major penalties for criminals in the country, the attitudes of robbers deserve it hence the call.
