The police at Boamang, a town within the Afigya Kwabre North District in the Ashanti Region, on Tuesday January 10 arrested one Kwadwo Aboagye aka Abo over alleged misappropriation of Ghs180.00 belonging to the people of Soko a neighboring town of Boamang in the same District.
The arrest was masterminded by the chief of Soko, Nana Kofi Awiah II who after several months of advising Abo to pay the money had yielded no fruits.
Information gathered by the portal indicates that Kwadwo Aboagye was a Unit Committee Secretary of Soko who was entrusted to assist the Committee’s Treasurer on financial matters.
Sources told the correspondent that for the past two years, Aboagye allegedly managed to collect revenue from funerals taxations amounting to the sum of Ghs180.00 but he refused to pay into the coffers of the Committee.
The reports said a complain was lodged to the chief of the town, Nana Kofi Awiah II who allegedly invited Aboagye and advised him to pay for the amount he owed.
It was said that inspite of Nana Kofi Awiah II’s humble to Aboagye to do the right thing, he treated the chief with contempt, hence considered himself as “fed up”, the chief handed him over to the police.
At the time of going to press Kwadwo Aboagye aka Abo was under process for court though he assured the police of his readiness to pay for the money.
