Press Release:
If truth be told, the CMD places on record that, the clear partisan attitudes, partisan rulings and behaviours of the Chief Justice, Araba Torkonoo and others; coupled with Jean Mensah, Bossman Asare and Appiahene all of who are very well known card-bearing members of the ruling npp, appointed to fill such neutral positions is very fast eroding the trust and respect citizens had for the judiciary and the electoral commission.
CMD warns the state institutions, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), National Peace Council and individuals responsible for ensuring that, the judiciary and the electoral commission acts in a manner seen by all citizens to be neutral and fair in their verdicts and execution of their mandates. If not let us all braze ourselves up for a SHOWDOWN very sooner than later because citizens are getting very fed-up with such institutional arrogance.
The recent meddling into parliamentary issues by the Supreme Court headed by Justice Araba Torkonoo has got many citizens wondering whether there is really a functioning judiciary in Ghana or not. At a point the Rt hon Speaker of parliament’s lawyer sought to place on record for Ghanaians to understand that, one of the judges on the panel is a very known npp card bearing member who stood on the ticket of the npp in one of the Constituencies in Volta region to enter parliament. At this point the arrogance, disrespect and insolence of Chief Justice Araba Torkonoo was so very clear that, every reasonable Ghanaian could see.
The lawyer for the speaker of parliament only sought to ask the very known card bearing member of the npp to recuse himself because in his presence, he thought he could never be neutral and fair.
Araba Torkonoo arrogantly refused to even listen to the reasons why Speaker’s lawyer was asking for this npp judge to recuse himself trying to hide what the lawyer sought to expose from Ghanaians and for that very reason, CMD wants to Caution the judiciary to thread very cautiously because the anger the president akufo addo’s judiciary has placed in the hearts and minds of Ghanaian citizens has risen to unbearable levels and we must be very mindful of the judicial arrogance and terrorism through unfair or SUBVERTED verdicts like in the case of James Gyakye Quayson and the denial of several years of representation of the people of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi known simply as people of the SALL region.
Worth placing on record is also the clear fact that, unfair sacking of the former Electoral Commissioner, Charlotte Osei and the replacement of jean mensah a family member of president akufo addo, and appointments of Bossman Asare and Appiahene, all of who are very well known npp card bearing members spells DOOM for our peace and democracy.
There are lots of serious cases either uninvestigated or not thoroughly investigated to its logical conclusion, example of one of which is the Shooting and killing of 8 innocent citizens in election 2020 by Armed elements of the akufo addo and Bawumia led ruling npp government and again the recent rise in killings in Bawku areas.
This recent killings has been blamed on the akufo addo and Bawumia led ruling npp government by the paramount chief of the Kusasi traditional area and we must not deceive ourselves to downplay this incident.
CMD urges the National Peace Council, Christian Council, National House of Chiefs, Imams and other religious leaders to as a matter of urgency, speak out now on the irrational and arrogant demeanour of Chief Justice Araba Torkonoo and her judiciary. Caution must also be thrown at jean mensah, bossman asare, Appiahene and EC failure of which we must blame ourselves for our hypocritical silence that has the propensity to destroy our peace and democracy in a matter of just a very short time.
In conclusion, justice Araba Torkonoo, the judiciary and jean mensah and her electoral commission must not deceive themselves into thinking they can force Ghanaians to respect and obey SUBVERTED rulings and selected presidential candidates on Ghanaians even when their verdicts are illogical and unreasonable.
Araba Torkonoo talks to Ghanaians as if she is giving instructions to her children at home and CMD places on record that we shall never tolerate such arrogance from her as the Chief Justice.
CMD therefore urges all citizens to vote for change in the upcoming elections come 7 December 2024 because we are all witnesses to state institutional decay. Few examples are the judiciary, EC, Ghana police and National Security among others.
Ghana deserves better than what npp has ever offered and can ever offer; wherefore we advise Ghanaians to reject npp and Bawumia and vote massively for JM and NDC to help reset Ghana and help with Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL) to force npp to be accountable to citizens either by love or by force.
