VRA DONATES RELIEF ITEMS TO AFFECTED COMMUNITIES IN KWAHU SOUTH.
The Volta River Authority has donated some relief items to the affected flooded victims in the Kwahu South Municipality.
The organization in response to the severe flooding caused by the spillage of the Akosombo Dam has donated relief items comprising bags of rice, cooking oils, mattresses,cups, mackerels,buckets,canned tomatoes among others to 6 affected communities within Kwahu South Municipality.
The beneficiary communities are Adawso, Asuboni, Nketepa, Pitiku, Odotom and New Jerusalem.
Speaking to the media ,the Director of Procurement at VRA, Mr. Jacob Fosu Kyei stated that,there was the need for a proper maintenance of the dam to avoid future spillage that could harm people’s lives.
He expressed sympathy for the victims, and to show concern hence the presentation of the relief items.
Mr Fosu Kyei further added that , the Authority will continue to support the flood victims during these challenging times across the various districts including Afram Plains South.
The MP for Mpraeso Constituency,Davis Opoku Ansah receiving the items expressed his appreciation to the Authority and further appealed to other institutions for more support especially in the forms of clothes and roofing sheets.
Assembly member for Kwahu Amanfrom New Jerusalem electoral area, Bio-Mensah Leonard also explained the destruction caused by the Spillage to his electorates and also appealed for accomodations.
