In a poignant address that has resonated with many, Pastor Victor Frimpong, the founder and leader of the Word Church Ministry situated in Accra-Alajo, has urged the Ghanaian government to rethink its financial priorities.
Speaking in an interview with the correspondent, he highlighted the billions of cedis wasted on beauty contests and other unprofitable ventures, advocating for a reallocation of these funds to support orphans, widows, and the underprivileged in society.
Pastor Frimpong’s message is simple, yet he argued that while beauty contests and extravagant events may provide temporary entertainment, they do little to support the fundamental needs of the society, particularly those who are most vulnerable.
According to him, the resources currently squandered on these events could be redirected to tangible programs that uplift and empower the lives of orphans, widows, and the needy.
“This is not just about budgeting; it is about having a heart for those who are struggling,” Frimpong stated.
Adding “It is about recognizing our responsibility to nurture the lives of those who need it the most.
He said government needs to invest in people, not just spectacles.”
According to the Word Church Ministry’s founder Ghana, like many nations, faces significant social inequalities.
With a growing number of orphans and widows, coupled with widespread poverty, there is an urgent need for intervention and support, he noted .
Pastor Frimpong indicated that many families struggle to meet basic needs, and the available social services often fall short of addressing these challenges comprehensively.
He emphasized that providing direct financial assistance, vocational training, and healthcare services to these marginalized groups could significantly improve their livelihoods.
It is time where the society should wake up and speak their minds ultimately in the quest to support the underprivileged citizens to live better lives.
