We worked hard like donkeys but dumped after victory – Ndc agents accused Mahama’ of betrayal

A wave of palpable disillusionment has swept through a section of polling station agents of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region who are openly castigating President John Dramani Mahama.

Their grievance? A perceived betrayal following their relentless efforts that secured the party’s victory in the December 7 general elections.

Many feel that they worked hard like donkeys only to be dumped after power was gained.

Information reaching this Website from Kumasi indicates that these aggrieved agents particularly from areas such as Ejisu, Sokoban Ampayoo, Obuasi, Offinso, and Kumasi Ashanti Newtown are scolding the President for the party’s failure to provide them with the promised jobs despite their crucial role in the NDC’s triumph.

According to these frontline party activists numerous assurances of employment and opportunities were given to them in the run-up to and immediate aftermath of the party’s victory.

However, these pledges they claim, have largely gone unfulfilled.

Currently, excuses have become the stock in trade of the leadership lamented one agent who expressed a widespread sentiment among the group.

This constant stream of deferrals has bred deep suspicion leading them to believe that they are being lied to through their teeth.

Adding insult to injury the agents observe that considerations and jobs are now being preferentially extended to friends, cronies and individuals who they contend, contributed little or nothing to the actual grassroots struggle that brought the NDC back to power.

We can clearly see that considerations are being given to friends and cronies who actually contributed nothing to bring the power, one frustrated agent stated.

The agents elaborated on the significant personal sacrifices they endured during the arduous election period.

Many recall suffering assaults and even losing their mobile phones in the line of duty all without any immediate compensation.

Their resilience, they explained, was fueled by the explicit expectation and implicit assurance that their loyalty and hardships would be duly rewarded once the party assumed office.

Look we are now deeply disappointed an Ejisu polling station agent who preferred to remain anonymous due to fear of reprisal told the correspondent.

This is why we are coming to the media, we need President John Dramani Mahama himself to hear us and take action.
