The Chief of Segyimase in the Eastern Region, Berima Botuo Dankwah I has advised the youth to refrain from drug abuse and other antisocial vices which in his view are against the cultural practice of the country and detrimental to religious faith.
Speaking to the correspondent in an exclusive interview on Sunday September 21st 2025 Barima Obotuo Dankwaa I who is also the Okyeman- Nifa Baamuhene particularly spoke on drug abuse that have been ruining the life of many youth in the country.
It is time the youth youth should change their attitudes and refrain from such dangerous practice, the chief noted.
Nifa-Baamuhene explained that the way our future youth especially the males have been peddling in drugs in addition of wearing earrings and inscripting their bodies with tattoos does not speak well of them
I was surprised to be enstooled as a Chief by a whole Paramount Chief (Okyehene) and the Traditional Council because of my humility, discipline and decency before Nananom.
He expressed worry about the kind of of behavior our youth of today have been engaging themselves in and charged the relevant authorities to discourage the conduct that have been setting back of the youth.
Whilst taking the welfare of the youth as a priority to speak against drug abuse and other unlawful habits Barima Botuo expects that other Traditional Councils across Ghana would implement the traditional laws to bring the offending youth to book.
This he said would serve as a deterrent to others to quit from activities that raise credibility problems in the society.
Berima Botuo Dankwah I further urged parents to be the best friends of their children and do their best to provide their needs to let them feel parental care and st home.
He also advised both the female and male youth to think of their future instead of today and urged Nananom to periodically visit schools and advise the children to lead an evemplary life for the benefit of their future welfare.
