Denkyira Kingdom gets new King to succeed late King Odeefuo Boa Amponsem III

The Denkyira Kingdom in the Central region has entered a new era of leadership as Mr. Oscar Kesse, Chief Executive Officer of Bankam Group of Companies has
been installed as the Paramount King by Denkyira
Pomatia.

His ascension to the ancient stool signifies the continuity of royal authority and the renewed hope of prosperity for the people of Denkyira.

Denkyira, renowned as the historic cradle of Akan tradition and culture has finally chosen a successor to the late Odeefuo Boa Amponsen III who joined the ancestors in 2015.

The kingmakers, led by the head of Agona Clan, the Gyaase group, together with the Queen Mother Nana Ama Ayensua Saarah III, followed due traditional processes to elect the new King known in private life as Mr Kwame Mensah (also called Wireko Ampem Oscar Kesse).

As custom demands the Asafo warriors of Denkyira joined by Denkyira Nseniehene, Tutuampahene, royals from the Agona family and envoys from the Denkyira Gyaase group stormed the principal streets of Abura with a thunderous drums crackling musket fire and resonant ancestral war songs.

The atmosphere brimmed with anticipation as the ritual search for the new King unfolded.

Upon his discovery white powder was poured over the body of the newly King as a symbol of purification and acceptance.

He was then lifted shoulder high in triumph and paraded through the principal streets in honor to signify the loyalty and allegiance of the people.

From Abura the elected King was escorted to Jukwa the historic and traditional capital of Denkyira to undergo through the sacred rites of purification and confinement.

These timeless rituals marked his transition from ordinary life into sacred kingship reinforcing his bond with the ancestors and fortifying him with their blessings.

It was there that the divine mandate to rule the Kingdom was affirmed to ensuring continuity, unity, and renewed hope for generations to come.
