I will arrest Chairman Wontumi if he falls to show up on Monday-Attorney General

According to a report By GHone Tv On Friday 3rd October 2025, Ghana’s Attorney General, Dominic Ayine, has said that he has ordered Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, to appear before him on Monday. Chairman Wontumi is being asked to respond to questions about illegal mining activities linked to his company, Akonta Mining Ltd.

According to the Attorney General, Akonta Mining has been accused of mining illegally in a forest reserve. The company is said to have carried out mining operations without the proper permits and in areas where mining is not allowed by law. This has raised serious concerns about the destruction of the environment and the breaking of Ghana’s mining rules.

Mr. Ayine stated clearly that if Chairman Wontumi fails to show up on Monday as instructed, he will have no choice but to order his arrest. He said no one is above the law, and everyone must be held accountable for their actions, no matter how powerful they are.

He also said that the government is serious about ending illegal mining, also known as galamsey, which is destroying Ghana’s forests, rivers, and farmlands. Mr. Ayine warned that people who continue to break the law will face legal action.

The Attorney General’s statement shows that the government wants to take strong action against illegal mining, even if it involves high-profile individuals. He added that investigations are ongoing, and if it is confirmed that Akonta Mining broke the law, the necessary punishment will follow.

This case is being closely watched by the public, especially because Chairman Wontumi is a well-known political figure and businessman. Many Ghanaians are waiting to see if the law will be applied fairly in this situation.

Mr. Ayine has made it clear that action will be taken if Chairman Wontumi does not appear on Monday, and justice will be made to take its own cause.
