Nkwanta North DCE launches anti-drug campaign

Hon. Dordoe Kudjoe Isiah, the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Nkwanta North, has launched an aggressive campaign against drug abuse, specifically targeting the youth in the Kpassa township. Speaking to XYZ News, Hon. Dordoe expressed deep concern over the rising prevalence of drug use, which he attributed to a surge in criminal activities, including theft and other forms of misconduct. He emphasized that these behaviors were directly linked to substance abuse, and were a threat to the community.

In addition to addressing the drug problem, Hon. Dordoe also spearheaded a community cleanup exercise to address the issue of blocked gutters. The DCE explained that the blocked waterways were causing flooding, and that the cleanup was a necessary step to prevent further damage and ensure the free flow of water.

Furthermore, Hon. Dordoe announced a collaborative effort between the district police command and the assembly to dismantle “ghetto” bases, which have become havens for drug users, particularly in the Kpassa area. He stated that these bases, often hidden in bushes, are used for drug consumption and the recruitment of young people. The DCE vowed to take decisive action to eradicate these bases and support initiatives that would provide employment and positive activities for the youth, aiming to improve the reputation of the Nkwanta North district. The DCE’s office is committed to ensuring that every youth in the district is safe.
