Bryan Acheampong urges Npp delegates to massively reject Bawumia who is not a team player for victory

By King Amoah

A strong challenge has been mounted against the aspirations of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) with Honorable Bryan Acheampong a prominent Member of Parliament and a hopeful in the NPP’s 2028 presidential race.

The MP has issued an urgent call to the party delegates to reject Baw bid to become a flagbearer and lead the NPP towards the 2028 elections.

Acheampong argues that Dr. Bawumia’s past performance demonstrates his inability to act as a team player.

He cannot lead the NPP to victory if he is given the mandate.

Speaking on a Kumasi based Agyenkwa FM on Tuesday October 21 in a news bulletin monitored by this Correspondent Hon.Acheampong asserted that Dr. Bawumia’s political expiry date has passed.

He alleged that Bawumia lacks the capacity to steer the party to future electoral triumph.

The legislator stressed that delegates must massively vote out Dr. Bawumia from the upcoming NPP’s delegates conference as he emphasized the crucial need for a leader who can unite and lead the party to victory.

He reminded the delegates that whilst Bawumia served as a Vice President when the NPP was in power he was granted ample opportunity to prove his mettle and help bring the party back to power.

However Acheampong noted tha despite holding such an important role his performance as the NPP’s 2024 presidential candidate reportedly never attracted votes for the party.

He said this is a situation that contributed to the party’s defeat in the 2024 generalelections.

Central to Hon.Acheampong’s critique were Bawumia’s past policy pronouncements and economic leadership.

He cited Bawumia’s alleged false claim that he would stabilize the country by locking up and imprisoned the dollar, contrasting it with the ensuing economic challenges faced by Ghanaians.

Bryan Acheampong stated that as the then chairman of the National Economic Planning Team, Bawumia’s failure to stabilize the Cedi against the dollar pushed the country into a stream of hardships.

The legislator identified this as a major cause of the party’s defeat in 2024.

The development of the economy, Acheampong asserted depends on currency stabilization an area where Bawumia by his records demonstrated his failure.

The MP further questioned the sincerity and effectiveness of Dr. Bawumia’s recent public apologies for the Npp’s mistakes that harmed Ghanaians.

Acheampong further posed a questions to the delegates: Is it relevant to entertain a former Vice President who has admitted his past mistakes to lead the party for the second time.

He also wanted to know whether Bawumia was able to heed to the advice of the experts for a change when he was making those mistakes.

Hon. Acheampong emphasized that Bawumia’s track record particularly his alleged unwillingness to heed to expert advice during his tenure serves as a clear indication that he is not a team player to be allowed to lead the NPP.

Bringing his address to a close, Bryan Acheampong reiterated his conviction by stating: I don’t hate Dr Bawumia but it has reached a crucial time where the hard truth must be told.

His message to the delegates is clear: for the NPP to secure victory in future elections, they must choose a leader who demonstrates genuine team playing abilities and a proven track record of effective governance, rather than one who has presided over acknowledged failures.
