A concerned faction within the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) that identify themselves as the Caucus for Mature Democrats has issued a strong call for action and demands that the party’s leadership should take immediate and decisive steps to restore public confidence in the Ndc.
The group expressed deep apprehension about the current trajectory of the party and its perceived disconnect from the expectations of Ghanaian citizens.
In a press release dated April 4, 2026 and signed by Mr. Baba Iddrisu the Executive Secretary of the Caucus for Mature Democrats, the statement acknowledged the efforts being made by the Ndc government to steer the economy towards progress, development and prosperity.
However the group highlighted a palpable growing sentiment among Ghanaians to suggest that a significant portion of the populace understands the track record of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The release emphasized that the Ndc’s ascent to power was predicated not merely on a change of leadership but on a profound commitment to probity and accountability
Central to this mandate the Caucus for Mature Democrats observed, were the expectations of a thorough investigations and prosecutions of alleged wrongdoings.
The group indicated that until concrete and visible action are taken in this regard a continued accusations and counter accusations will fail to resonate with the public and, worse, risk creating the dangerous perception of little to no difference between the Ndc and Npp, the very party the Ndc was elected to replace.
Further compounding to these concerns the Caucus for Mature Democrats pointed to unmet expectations among Ndc members themselves particularly regarding to the issues of unemployment, frustrations and the continued presence of individuals associated with the previous administrations in the key government positions.
These persistent challenges, the group observed are significantly eroding morale at the grassroots level.
The Caucus for Mature Democrats firmly believes that strong and visible steps towards establishing and upholding probity and accountability will serve as a dual purpose.
These steps the group said willl not only rekindle confidence among the general public, but it will also encourage party supporters to redouble their efforts. and do more.
Ultimately the group contended that such decisive action is crucial for Ghanaians to truly recognize the Ndc as the true champion of national progress, development and to understand that the Npp is, in effect an avowed enemy of the state national progress and development.
The call for transparency and accountability from within the Ndc’s own ranks indiccates a critical juncture for the party as it seeks to solidify its mandate and address the deep seated expectations of the Ghanaian people.
The onus now lies with the Ndc leadership to heed to this urgent appeal and demonstrate a tangible commitment to the principles that brought them to power.
