A communications team member Miracles Dennis Aboagye has stirred controversy after suggesting that jailed NPP Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, contributed to his own predicament through his public utterances.
Speaking during a discussion on UTV, Miracles Aboagye reportedly argued that some of the comments made by Chairman Wontumi while the New Patriotic Party was in power may have played a role in the circumstances that have led to his current 20-year prison sentence.
The remarks, contained in a video posted on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on July 22, 2026, have triggered reactions on social media, with many users debating whether Wontumi’s past statements and political conduct could now be influencing how he is being treated.
According to Miracles Aboagye, Chairman Wontumi was known for making strong and sometimes controversial public statements during the previous NPP administration.
He suggested that such utterances may have created a political environment in which his current predicament has become more complicated.
“Chairman Wontumi contributed to his own predicament,” Miracles Aboagye is reported to have said, in a comment that has since generated significant discussion among political observers and social media users.
