As the political temperature in Ghana continues to rise a prominent clergyman in Kumasi has sounded a word of caution over the abuse of social values specifically on the unchecked culture of insults on the social media platforms.
Apostle John Kwaku Appiah the Head Pastor of the Faith Outreach Ministry in Kumasi, Ashanti Region has issued a passionate call for President John Dramani Mahama to intervene and curb the activities of a Ghanaian based US social media commentator Kelvin Taylor.
The Apostle observed that in an era where political stability and economic progress should be the primary focus of national discourse,Ghana is instead witnessing a decline in civility.

The clergyman noted that at the global level issues like political tension, corruption and lawlessness often fueled by the abuse of freedom of speech, hate speech and blatant disregard for the elderly citizens.
Apostle John Kwaku Appiah reiterated that the country was built on the values of respect and dignity, yet we see young men and women wjo haul insults on the elders with impunity and go unpunished.
He stressed that despite having a legislative body who have the mandate to uphold the law, the lack of enforcement has emboldened individuals to violate the human rights of others under the guise of free speech.
The Kelvin Taylor Factor:
Apostle Appiah singled out Kelvin Taylor a Ghanaian social media commentator based in the United States as a primary architect of this harmful cultural violations.
The man of God pointed out that Taylor’s frequent vitriolic attacks on Chiefs, politicians and Ministers of the Gospel serve as a direct violation of both the law and divine principles which advocate for honor and respect for parents..
The cleric drew a direct link between Taylor’s rhetoric and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), noting that Taylor has publicly associated himself with the party to attack innocent individuals for the reasons best known to himself.
According to the Apostle, the lack of repercussions for these attacks has created a “copycat” effect where other social media commentators such as the individual known as “Ghana Jollof” now feels justified in targeting public figures including the First Lady with similar abuse.
A Call for Executive Action:
Addressing President John Dramani Mahama directly on the issue, Apostle Appiah urged the President to take decisive action to halt Taylor from further engagement on the social media platforms on attacks mission.
He requested that the Ndc leadership should disassociate itself from Kelvin Taylor insisting that the President should not hide behind any Committees to address the issue of Kelvin Taylor’s withdrawal from the Ndc.
President Mahama needs to lead the charge, adding that Kelvin Taylor’s influence is poisoning the political environment of the country.
As we move towards the 2028 elections campaign Ghanaians cannot afford to let this culture of confusion and political tensions to thrive, Apostle Appiah hinted.
Fulfillment of Promises and the ‘Galamsey’ Crisis:
Beyond the social media chaos, the Apostle pivoted to the economic and environmental realities facing the nation.
He reminded President Mahama of the pledges that he made during the 2024 campaign particularly on the restoration of the environment.
Apostle Appiah expressed deep concern over the persistent “galamsey” (illegal mining) menace which continues to devastate the country’s forest reserves and water bodies.
Apostle John Kwaku Appiah criticized the current state of affairs, noting that despite campaign promises of environmental protection, the situation on the ground speaks about deterioration.
The President promised to restore our environment and improve economic standards to benefit the citizens, yet we are seeing worse conditions, the Apostle stated.
Concluding he called for urgent action to reverse the economic hardships and environmental destruction that have been currently plaguing the country.
