Halt IGP from proceeding on leave…Traditional Chief pleads for presidential intervention.

Following the hints that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare will be proceeding on leave, effective Monday July 31st 2023, a popular Accra based Traditional ruler Nii Ayi Ana Kon Teh I, Dzaasete of Ga Abola Piam Tunma We Royal Dynasty Throne ( Kingmaker) has added his voice to the call on President Akuffo Addo by the good citizens of Ghana to intervene and ensure that Dr George Akuffo Dampare remains at post.

According to the Chief aslo known in private life as Dr Henry Nii Ayi Addo, alleged that intelligence gathered from the Ghana Police Service indicates that the current Police boss is a known intelligent, decent, and a first charismatic gentleman the Service has ever had in the country.

Therefore, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare’s plans to go on leave on July 31st 2023 could likely have negative impact on not the Service alone but also on the entire country in general.

The Chief suspected that what has triggered the cause of the IGP’s intention to.proceed on leave is clearly based on the recent alleged secret audio recordings involving some top personalities in the government and some senior police officials in a secret discussions about his excellent role he is playing to shape the Service and plot for his removal.

Readers can recalled that the Inspector General of the Ghana Police Service was recently brought to spotlight in an alleged audio recordings that cited some senior police officers, a stalwart of the Npp Bugiri Naabu among other government officials having serious discussions about his work ability in the country.

The state highest law making body been the House of Parliament has taken up the matter to investigate the said leaked tape that seek to focus on the conversation that seems to have focused on Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

Dr Henry Nii Ayi Addo observed that as the standards have been set within the confines of the Police Service , with its motto, “Service with Integrity”, the precedent set out according to the administration is based on code of ethics , conducts and standards that must be adhered to.

He said as the standards have been set out in the Service, the current situation would need to take a critical look at the national interest by way of security management, professionalism and other practices in the Ghana Police Service.

Stressing that the conclusion would be such that the president, Nana Akuffo Addo should have to completely stop Dr George Akuffo Dampare in his attempt to proceed on leave for the sake of security management.

The Chief stated that the Ghana Police Service has though, since it’s inception been led by very astute gentlemen as Inspector Generals.

Yet in today’s security management and standards it is based on performance, competence, administrative excellence , real policing , security alert , crime combat , visibility monitoring, professionalism, strategic administrative structure, swift response to crime scenes and adjustment to ensure ,peace and security within the communities and the nation in general.

An insight into the transformation, expansion and provision of decent homes for personnel of the Service, Dr Henry Nii Ayi Addo was of the opinion that Dr George Akuffo Dampare stands tall, and should be be halted from from his decision to proceed on leave.

It is based on Dampare’s envious track records in the Service, hence l am passionately craving the indulgence of His Excellency, president Nana Akuffo Addo to help ensure that the Inspector General of Police’s wish to proceed on leave is foiled.

Dr Henry Nii Ayi Addo also called on all sound-minded and concerned Ghanaians to join him on this wake up call to campaign for the “IGP MUST STAY, NO LEAVE FOR YOU” agenda motive.

The outspoken Chief further reminded the president to the fact that whilst Ghanaians are criticizing his government over economic crisis nobody has spoken about security matters, a signal which gives credit to government in terms of security management under Dampare’s watch.
