Vice President Bawumia Dishes Out Ghs 60,000 And Assorted Items To Kumasi Children’s Home As Donations To Mark His 60th Birthday.
The Vice President of the republic, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has donated a whooping sum of Ghs 60,000 in addition to assorted foods, drinks, toiletries and other items to the Kumasi Children’s Home.
The gesture according to Dr Bawumia forms part of the activities marking his 60th birthday anniversary.
Accompanied by the 2nd Lady Samira Bawumia, the Vice President handed over a number of items including 100 bags of rice, 20 bags of sugar, 50 packs of diapers, 20 boxes of tooth brushes, 20 boxes of toilet rolls, 20 packs of detergents, 100 packs of edible oil, 20 boxes tinned tomatoes, 10 boxes of water 150 cartons assorted drinks 200 cartons) and a large variety of biscuits.
The Ghs 60,000 was to help in the running of the Home, and pledged to provide a Coaster bus and also serve as Patron for the Home.
Dr Bawumia observed that everyone needs some form of help, but in his opinion those who needs urgent attention are these children in the orphanages, who are here through no fault of theirs.
That’s why I chose to spend my birthday with the children in this Home, as I am here in Kumasi on my birthday,” he explained.
“Every year I spend my birthday with the vulnerable in society, so you can be sure that if God gives me life, this is not the last time you will see me or hear from me on my birthday,” Dr Bawumia pledged.
The Managress of the Kumasi Children’s Home, Mabel Amponsah expressed the appreciation of the almost 90 children at the institution, some with disabilities, noting that Dr Bawumia’s decision to spend his birthday with vulnerable and abandoned children is a clear indication of his love for humanity.
“As you have shown us love and care on your special day, we pray that your dreams and desires will be met. We ask the Almighty to grant you your heart’s desires. We will continue to pray for you.
