Akosombo Dam Spillage Is More Disastrous Than The COVID-19 Pandemic – Chairman Abubakari Hints.
Chairman for the Muslim Executive Foundation ( MEF) a pro- Muslim leading Non Governmental Organization based in Kumasi in the Ashanti region, Alhaji Musa Abubakari has described the recent Akosombo Dam spillage as one of the worst incident which have so far hit the country since Ghanaians attained independence in 1957.
Speaking to the Correspondent in an interview, chairman Musa Abubakari reiterated that the calamities in which the spillage has caused cannot be compared with the COVID-19 pandemic where the country allegedly recorded less death.
Chairman Abubakari expressed worry about the tragedy and said the catastrophe is a big blow which calls for unity among Ghanaians to financially and materially contribute to support our brothers and sisters who have been displaced as a result of the spillage.
According to him, one cannot his close his eyes when he pays visit to some of the spillage scenes where he could witness a sordid events on how water had caused a great deal of damage and harm to innocent people including their properties and houses.
Many souls have washed away Alhaji Musa Abubakari alleged and estimated that over 25,000 citizens are displaced having no shelter, food and clothes to feed themselves.
The chairman who also doubles as the Managing Director of Basfam Co Ltd called on the media especially those in the Ashanti region to use their platforms to intensify campaign and solicit for assistance for our fellow Ghanaians who are displaced as a result of the spillage catastrophe.
He also appealed to the well meaning citizens, philanthropists, chiefs, religious organizations, Non Governmental Organizations among others in the Ashanti region to wake up and show love by way of supporting the spillage victims with cash and in kinds to help save souls.
This is because government alone cannot shoulder all the expenses on the victims.
As part of meeting their social responsibilities, Muslim Executive Foundation has slated Saturday Oct 28 2023 to organize a special fund raising program at Akwatia Line where the accrued proceeds would be transferred to support the Akosombo Dam spillage victims.
