Modernisation Is Killing Our Economy – Bishop Boateng

Founder and leader of the Gospel Revival Church Of Christ sited at Sofoline in Kumasi, Bishop John Nana Kwame Boateng has linked part of the country’s underdevelopment to modernisation, where the youth have refused to follow the traditional principles that our forefathers used to establish the foundation of this country.

In an interview with the Correspondent the clergy expressed worry that today decorum and rule of law are absent on the youth who follow their own directions.

They have less regards for the elderly and what is worse, they also show open disobedience to the authorities.

The focus of the youth centred on foreign culture practices of which such practices are unknown to country because the advanced countries adopted their culture since 200 years ago, the Bishop bemoaned.

Today he said, a young man or woman can be seen in the street shamelessly insulting the president, clergy, chiefs among others without fear.

Bishop Boateng reiterated that such youth been naive, never know that it is God who chooses leaders to front for a nation.

Citing the book of Roman 13:1 Bishop Boateng posited that because God is behind the leadership role, any one who will insults a leader would simply means that the person has insulted God and would be liable to face the wrath of God.

God will judge the offending leaders, and as a Creator who knows the heart of man, it is not the business of anyone to judge or abuse the roles of the leaders in the society, the clergy hinted.

The man of God called on the authorities to come out with measures that could ensure that discipline is enforced in the country, especially in the education sector.

Charity, they say begins at home, so we should stop pampering our children before they would grow up to become stubborn citizens and rise up against us.

He cited the accounts in the Bible where the 4th born of King David rose against him (King David) for evil plot, because King David initially failed to undertake his son Abisor through discipline measures.

On the day, the clergy also advised leaders to avoid making policies that go contrary to the wish of the country.

He concluded that if you come out with policies that would favor you and your cronies you may stand the risk to experience its bad effects at the long run.
