The chief of Denase, a town along the Kumasi Offinso road in the Ashanti region, Nana Atonsa Yiadom II has advised drivers to observe road regulations to ensure accident free Christmas on the roads.
The chief who was speaking to the correspondent in an interview stated that in occasions like Christmas some drivers rush themselves to amass wealth and in effect resort to breaking the laws that guide their profession.
Nana Atonsa Yiadom II who also doubles as the Asantehene’s Atenehene mentioned overtaking, over speeding, overloading, alcoholic intake whiles driving, telephone calls, debate and augments with passengers among others as some of the challenges that contribute to road accidents.
Charging the drivers to avoid the aforementioned problems that bring about road accidents, Nana Atonsa Yiadom II also appealed to the various transport unions in the country to counsel their drivers to observe road regulations to help curb accidents as we are about to celebrate the Christmas.
He also called on the authorities of the Road Safety outfit to stay vigilant, arrest and prosecute offending drivers to serve as a deterrent to recalcitrant drivers who take the laws into their own hands and claim the lives of innocent passengers.
