Nerebehi Residents Cry For Fumigation, As Galamseyers Desecrate Community Cemetery
Some residents of Nerebehin are currently living with a situation which could be best described as an epidemic waiting to happen.
Illegal miners are reported to have mined the community cemetery at Nerebehin in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti Region in an overnight operation.
Residents are calling on the government, Ghana Health Service and the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipal Assembly to immediately fumigate the community to avoid disease outbreak in waiting.
Reacting to the issue, Nana Tima Agyeku II, the queenmother of Nerebehin vehemently refuted the allegations to suggesting her involvement, along with the Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, in the illicit sale of the cemetery land to illegal miners, known as galamseyers.
With conviction and determination, Nana Tima Agyeku II dispelled these rumors, asserting that there is absolutely no truth to the recent speculations.
Mentioning a group of people as the evil brains behind these illegalities and spewing lies against innocent people, queen mother pleaded with the Ashanti overlord, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to immediately intervene before thongs escalated.
She however sided with the residents’ call for immediate fumigation and pledged to ensure that the whole community will be fumigated.
