The administration of John Dramani Mahama ought to consider Hon. Adongo Atule Jacob as a representative of the physically challenged community in our country. Hon. Adongo Atule Jacob’s political career, which began during his university days at the University of Ghana, has unequivocally demonstrated that disability is not synonymous with inability.
A notable instance where he demonstrated that disability is not inability was his decision to run for SCR Secretary in Legon, where he challenged conventional norms and showcased his abilities to the student body. Although the elections were marred by electoral irregularities, and consequently, had to be canceled, he was tipped to emerge victorious if it was successfully conducted. The significance of his participation was that he received overwhelming support from the students, and his candidacy provided a platform for him to demonstrate his capabilities.
Hon Adongo Atule Jacob’s tenure as a seasoned politician within the NDC has been marked by his unwavering perseverance, as he remained undeterred by his losses and continued to submit himself for consideration in the National Democratic Congress party on at least three occasions.
His loyalty and dedication to serve the party is evident in his repeated contests for the Deputy National Communication Officer position, where he consistently reaffirmed his commitment following each loss by working diligently towards the party’s success.
In recognition of his dedication and commitment, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama presented him with a pickup truck to facilitate his campaign activities for the 2024 General Elections, acknowledging his ability to mobilize resources. And he indeed did mobilize resources to prosecute his agenda to reach out to the disability groups across the country.
Additionally, as a campaign coordinator of the National Disability Desk of the NDC, he championed the cause of securing one million votes from people with disabilities. Through his nationwide tour and engagements with various disability groups, he shared the vision of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the NDC.
In light of his remarkable contributions, it is fitting that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama honors people with disabilities by appointing Hon Adongo Atule Jacob to advocate for their interests, as outlined in the party’s manifesto.
