Adjoa Safo, former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya Constituency and the revered Head of the Sarfo family, has swiftly moved to quash the widespread rumours circulating on Ghanaian media, particularly social media channels, concerning the alleged passing of her father, the distinguished Dr. Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo Katanka.
In a strong-worded statement, Adjoa Safo vehemently denied the reports branding them as “fake, evil, and unfounded.”
She asserted that Apostle Dr. Sarfo Katanka is living strongly and in good health and urged the public to disregard the false publication.
The former legislator issued a stern warning to media houses involved in disseminating the unverified information by stating that they must retract their publications or be prepared to face the laws.
She emphasized the critical need for media practitioners to always check their facts before going to press, holding them accountable for the integrity of their reporting.
The statement, which was also forwarded to the editor of Connectghananews.com, Mr. King Amoah further revealed that Dr. Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo Katanka is set to mark his special birthday on August 30th this month.
Family members, in collaboration with the church, are already in advanced preparations for the forthcoming celebration.
Among the various media and online platforms that reportedly carried the trending, albeit false, story were Amazjnng TV, Kay Facebook, Opera News, Pinax TV, and ITM media block Instagram subscribers.
However. it is noteworthy that reputable Ghanaian news outlets, including Ghanaweb and Ghanaian Chronicle have already jointly refuted the alleged death story as total false.
Editor’s Note (from connectghananews.com):
Whilst we acknowledge that this publication joined in the fray of the said story, we currently render our apologies to the Sarfo family for any inconveniences that may have been caused. As per the international code of journalism, we wish to clarify that the story did not emanated from our reporters. As readers may observe, we credited the source to Opera News to adhere to ethical demands and avoid potential issues. This was done after several telephone enquiries at Apostle Kwadwo Sarfo Katanka’s residence proved futile in verifying the claims. We thank you for your understanding.
