Adwoa Safo renders apology to the NPP leadership.

Sarah Adwoa Safo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, has apologized to the leadership of the Npp for her recent behavior.

The MP was out of the House of Parliament for an extended length of time and refused to come back to assist in passing crucial legislation for the government.

The MP declined to testify before the committee, which was eventually formed by the Speaker of the House Alban Bagbin to look into the circumstances behind her absence from the legislature.

But on September 14, 2023, Ms. Safo offered an unequivocal apologies to the party and the presidency in a video that she put on her Facebook page.

“I want to use this opportunity to apologise to my party, that is the New Patriotic Party, and the leadership, firstly the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, his Vice-President, our mother the Chief of Staff Honourable Frema Osei Opare, Majority Leader and the entire leadership of parliament, my colleague MPs, Majority caucus,” she said.

According to the  MP, there was a lot happening around her at the time.

“I want to use this opportunity to apologise to you all for my conduct in the past, it was not my intention to disrespect you.

“There was a lot happening in my life,” she explained.

She pleaded: “Whatever it is, please forgive me.”

Her fellow Majority members wanted her seat to be declared vacant, but National Democratic Congress (NDC) MPs resisted, sparking a heated discussion.

On the Committee’s report, the Speaker has not yet made a decision. The former minister of procurement had stated her intention to run in the party’s primaries for the 2024 elections upon her return to Ghana.
