Lawyer Kwasi Kwarteng, the spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong, has broken his silence on reports claiming that the former Assin Central Member of Parliament has resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Friday, October 16, 2026, Kwasi Kwarteng dismissed the reports and urged the public to disregard claims that Kennedy Agyapong had submitted a resignation letter to the party.
According to him, Kennedy Agyapong is currently in China conducting business and has not submitted any resignation letter to anyone within the NPP.
The clarification comes after reports began circulating on social media claiming that the outspoken politician had resigned from the opposition party. The reports attracted attention among political observers and supporters of the NPP, particularly because of Kennedy Agyapong’s influence within the party.

However, Kwasi Kwarteng’s statement seeks to put the claims to rest and clear up any confusion surrounding the politician’s current relationship with the NPP.
In his message, the spokesperson was firm in his response and urged the public not to believe the reports suggesting that Kennedy Agyapong had formally ended his membership of the party.
The statement also indicates that Kennedy Agyapong’s current stay in China is connected to his business activities, rather than any announced political decision to leave the NPP.
Kennedy Agyapong remains a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics and has a strong following among party supporters. Any development concerning his political future is likely to attract public attention, especially as the NPP continues to prepare for its future political activities.
For now, the statement from his spokesperson directly contradicts the circulating resignation claims. Members of the public have therefore been urged to treat the reports with caution and rely on credible information regarding Kennedy Agyapong’s political status.
