The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Amenfi East Constituency is currently teetering on the brink of a major internal collapse as a bitter power struggle between the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Nana Raymond Ebbah, and the Constituency Chairman, Nana Kofi Afokyi, threatens to allegedly derail the party’s cohesion.
Reports reaching this news desk indicate that the relationship between the two political heavyweights has reached a breaking point, leaving the party’s structural organization in a state of paralysis.
A History of Hostility:
The current tension stems from a controversial legal battle that previously gripped the constituency.

Insiders allege that the MCE Nana Raymond Ebbah orchestrated the arrest and detention of Chairman Nana Kofi Afokyi on what were described as “fraudulent charges.”
While the MCE initially denied involvement, court proceedings reportedly exposed his role in the saga.
Although the Chairman was eventually released and reports suggested that the matter had been settled amicably.
The truce appears to have been short lived and superficial.
Secret Campaigns and Power Games:
The reconciliation has taken a sharp, negative turn. Sources within the constituency confirmed that the MCE and his loyalist faction are allegedly working tirelessly to ensure that the incumbent Chairman loses his seat in the upcoming internal elections.
It was gathered that the MCE’s camp has launched a “secret campaign” to promote an unnamed candidate perceived as the MCE’s preferred choice to replace Nana Kofi Afokyi.
This move has further polarized the party base and is creating two distinct, warring factions within the constituency.
Party Operations at a Standstill:
The impact of this infighting is being felt on the ground.
Supporters of both factions are refusing to engage with one another, leading to a breakdown in communication and a total standstill in party organizational activities.
With the two leaders refusing to “see eye to eye,” critical grassroots work needed to secure victory in the upcoming elections has been severely compromised.
“The party is essentially paralyzed,” noted a local source familiar with the power struggle.
The infighting has become a distraction that threatens our electoral prospects in the Amenfi East area.
Will Headquarters Intervene?
As the rift continues to widen, there are mounting calls for the national leadership of the NDC to intervene before the situation spirals beyond repair.
. Whether the NDC headquarters will step in to settle the grievances or allow the constituency to deal with the fallout remains to be seen.
For now, the Amenfi East NDC remains a house divided, with the future of the party’s leadership in the constituency hanging in the balance.
Stay tuned as we continue to monitor this unfolding story from the Amenfi East Constituency.
